My First Grant! “Using Linked Open Data for Georgia’s Natural, Cultural and Historic Organizations’ Disaster Response”

I’m delighted to announce that I’m the co-PI (with my colleague Christine Wiseman) on a LYRASIS Catalyst Grant that will run July 2019 – June 2020.

Long story short, we’ll be creating an open dataset of cultural heritage organizations in Georgia, adding the dataset to Wikidata, then building a website for emergency responders to use in cases of disasters. We’ve got partner organizations across the state who will use the website to reach out before and after natural disasters to help rescue collections, and the partners will also help keep the dataset up-to-date with semi-automated annual reviews.

Needless to say, I’m VERY excited!   But we still need a grad student assistant, so if you know of any Atlanta-based MLIS or Archival Studies students who want to work with linked data, tell them to apply here!
