I spent a hefty chunk of my savings on presents this last Christmas, and I don’t regret a minute of it. I was planning on building my savings back up this year, but I think the folks in Haiti (and other poverty-stricken areas in the world) can use that money a lot more.
So do it! Give a dollar, twenty, or a hundred. For the next month and a half, I’ll give whatever you do. Click the link and give.
UPDATE (1/16/10 12:06pm): The generosity that I’ve seen is astounding. People have donated in lieu of going out for dinner. Folks who have been jobless for months have scraped together a donation. Friends who have already given have found a way to give again. I mean, for goodness sake, my Mom handed me her grocery money!
So, yeah, I’ve pretty much spent the last few days crying off and on, both in mourning for what the people of Haiti have faced and yet to face, but also in rapture and celebration of the generosity that you’ve all shown. I didn’t expect that we would raise this much, this fast. But when you trust your heart, amazing things happen, as you all have shown me.
Please continue to spread the word.
Thank you, all. So very, very much.

Who are you?, I saw this on french website. Its sweet if your a millionaire. but for the middle and lower class they probly do more than you. with very little income they are more generous triple your donation and maybe I will hear you. but may God bless you for your act of generosity

Hiya jomi! Nope, I’m not millionaire–in fact, $10,000 is almost all of my savings. But I figure that it will do Partners in Health a lot more good than it does me sitting in my bank account. I’m a healthy and happy person with a good job as a librarian, and I trust that with hard work, I will always have enough money. This is my way of giving back for all the blessings that I get every day!

Cliff’s a librarian. I don’t think he’s a millionaire, librarians don’t make that much money!
January 14th, 2010 at 6:45 pm
Cliff, you are awesome.
Oh, and for those who are skeptical, PIH, according to their website, spends 94% on activity and medicine and only 6 % on administration. Impressive!

You’re amazing, Cliff. You rock.
January 15th, 2010 at 4:04 pm
That last $20.00 was from my boss. I don’t know if that matters at all, but I did want to give him credit.
January 15th, 2010 at 4:04 pm
You are a stunningly kind man, and a good example to us all. *hug* (I’ll make a donation when I get back from Boston.)
January 15th, 2010 at 4:37 pm
You rock, Cliff. I’ll donate as soon as I buy my textbooks and see what I have left over. It won’t be much since I’m a poor student, but every little bit is important. I reposted this link on facebook.

Cliff–Freddy said he could link to this on Daily Kos and clean you out in short order, if you’d like. Yes? No?

Hiya cliff, I hope my comments didnt keep anyone from donating, Im just a normal mom who saw this on my Fb from a friend in the states. As I told her the red flag went up ! she said you were a good person, and not sure why , but I do think you might be one of those rare people . who thinks of others first . May God bless you , and all others in the relief efforts for haiti.

Nicole–tell Freddy yes!!! Any and all donations welcome! The more and the faster, all the better!!!
Jomi–no sweat! I’m glad that folks are being careful about ensuring that they’re donating to a genuine cause. I really support Partners in Health because give basic health care to those who need it most, and manage to do so with an amazingly low overhead!
Everyone–Please keep spreading the word, and help the people of Haiti however you can. Thank you all for your generosity so far! We’re up to $2980 ($5,960 with my matching)! Let’s get to 20K!

I applaud your efforts! I donated $200 to Partners in Health earlier this week, but maybe I can hand over some more after the next paycheck.
Bless you, bless you…. and God bless the people of Haiti.
